The Sixth Grade is a new adition to St. Patrick School. Students are changing classes for Math, Science and Religion. They have lockers and follow a Middle School schedule which will help with organization and time management skills. The academics will be rigorous. Stuents will work to become independent learners as well as continuing to grow physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Reading - Student goals for their second reading unit:
I can cite text-based evidence to support an analysis of literary text.
I can use a variety of strategies to determine the meaning of unknown words and phrases
I can describe how characters change throughout a literary text
I can analyze how an author develops a narrator or speaker's point of view
I can effectively engage in discussions with diverse partners about 6th grade topis, texts, and issues.
We are continuing on our work with Dragon Wings
Writing, Grammar, and Spelling _ Strudents have started 12 weeks of vocabulary units. Students will learn meanings of words and use
them in writing. Students will be working on expository writing pieces.
Social Studies - We are continuing our studies of ancient civilizations. We are studying the geography, history, economics,
governmenr and culture.
Math - 6th grade has math with Mrs. Larrabee . Students are working with positive and negative numbers
Religion - 6th grade has religion with Father Brian and Deacon Mike -
Science - 6th grade has science with Mr. Eckerson.
