We currently have 15 Dell computers in our lab (34 additional in the school) that are networked and on-line. The lab has a Dell color printer that is available for use by all lab computers as well as each of the classroom computers. There are also several networked printers throughout the building. We are very proud and excited to have Interactive Whiteboards in our K – 6 classrooms.
Students in kindergarten come to the computer lab for class once a week for half an hour. Students in grades 1-5 come for 40 minutes a week and grade 6 comes twice a week for 40 minutes. Each grade level has certain required elements they are taught. These requirements range from learning the parts of the computer and keyboarding, to projects in Microsoft Paint, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Power Point and Excel with many of these projects utilizing research information gathered from Internet sites. We also squeeze in some fun learning games that concentrate on phonics, math skills, logic, and critical thinking.
The computer lab is also available for use by the classroom teachers.
